Making something with your hands that people want to buy is one of the best feelings in the world!

Even if you don’t want to sell your work, the fact that someone would pay you for what you made-now that’s addicting!

If you’ve been to Art Markets and thought “I can make that” only to quickly get overwhelmed as soon as you opened up the Rio Grande Site then you’re not alone.

If you’ve been wondering…

  • In “Set Up Your Home Studio” I guide you through all of the essential tools, what they do and how to use them to make things.

We review this in each class where I demonstrate how to use the tools for the specific projects covered.

Repetition is good! It helps lock in muscle memory so you retain the skills better.

  • It really depends on what you want to make.

In “Set Up Your Home Studio” I share a list of metals I use for different projects and give you the links to my Rio Lists that include all of the order numbers so you don’t have to search for them.

Each months projects have a supply and material list with links to all of the tools and materials needed to complete the projects.

  • First, let me say it will happen and we all do it.

One of the things I like to focus on is how to fix things when they go awry.

I myslef learned using base metals like copper and bronze-this takes the fear factor away.

Once you’re more comfortable working with a torch, introduce silver.

Start small and build. If you melt it, it’s ok. I’ll show you ways to fix common mistakes and what to do if it all goes down in a blaze of glory.

These are great questions that I wondered myself when I first started in 2012!

I had no idea what to buy or where to buy it. Silver seemed so expensive when I had no idea how to use it! It was scary!

Even my most successful students felt baffled by these things too when they were first starting out.

The difference was they had a supportive network to help walk them through, step by step.

Instead of floundering around trying to figure it out on your own, it’s really much easier to have a guide to help you get started.

Someone you can ask questions to when you get stuck.

Someone who has helped student’s just like you to:

  • Set Up Your Home Studio safely-using and storing gases in your house can seem intimidating at first. I help take the fear away so you know how to protect yourself and your home

  • Make your first jewelry ever-whether it’s just for you or as a gift-it’s an accomplishment worth feeling proud of

  • Sell your first piece of jewelry-if you’d like to sell your jewelry, I’ll be adding classes on the business side of jewelry making as well!

  • Participate in your first Art Market or shop-even if you want to sell online, I still recommend doing a show to get feedback on what people like and what they’re drawn to.

I’ve built a 6-figure jewelry business teaching people how to make jewelry-many who have gone on to successfully sell their work.

I’ve helped students create their first jewelry lines, sell at their first show, set up their work in shops and even teach their first classes!

I’m a proud mama, showing off the work of my students-most recently in our own Artisan Shop within our Syracuse Studio.

Nothing makes me happier than students succeeding!

I would love to be your guide through the sometimes confusing world of jewelry making.

I’ll show you how to get set up making jewelry safely at home and start making metal jewelry with step-by-step tutorials that are easy to follow, even if you’ve never made jewelry before, like ever.

I’ve been metalsmithing since 2012 and have taught over 5,000 students in my Syracuse Studio that I started in 2018.

I’ve sold my work at shows, online and in stores and currently have an Artisan Shop in my studio where I feature my own work, along with the work of our student’s and teacher’s.

I’m here to guide you in successfully making and selling your work.

“Kelly is just the best! She explains every step in detail and patiently guides you through the ring-making process. As someone who has never made metal-based jewelry before, I felt very empowered throughout the whole process and am proud of the ring I made. Kelly went way above and beyond and took extra time and care to make sure I was happy with the final product, which I so appreciated!”

Kelly is an amazing teacher. Her class room is well laid out and organized to provide a positive space for learning. Her class projects are fun and engaging, and I like that she keeps her class sizes small. I always feel like I have enough personal assistance when I need it. Jewelry making is both easier than I had anticipated, and yet there are a lot of little steps to ensure your pieces turn out the way you intend them to. Kelly is a great mentor and I would highly recommend her studio if you’d like to learn something exciting and new
